What is Highpower Rifle?
There are two different types of NRA High Power Rifle matches shot at North Star Rifle Club.
Over the Course (OTC) and Mid-Range Prone (MRP).
An OTC match is fired at 200, 300 and 600 yards from the Standing, Sitting and Prone positions. An MRP match is fired at 300, 500 and 600 yards from the Prone position.
Two categories of rifles can be used.
Service Rifle, which includes the AR15, M14 and M1 Garand.
Match Rifle, which can be almost any centerfire rifle up to .35 caliber capable of holding 5 rounds.

Course of fire.
The OTC match starts at 200 yards in the Standing position. 10 to 20 shots are loaded and fired one at a time in a time limit of 10 or 20 minutes.
The second string of fire is fired from the Sitting position at 200 yards. In this stage you will load and fire 1 or 2 10 shot strings in 60 seconds each.
The third stage is fired at 300 yards from the Prone position loading and firing 1 or 2 10 shot strings in 70 seconds each.
The final stage is fired from the Prone position at 600 yards loading and firing 20 shots in 20 minutes.
